8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
B1: Breakout Session
BCM Staff Development and Maintaining BCM Staff Readiness
Patrick Alesi, CEO Office, Business Continuity Management
Nomura/Contingency Planning Exchange
Your BIAs are up to date. Your plans are perfect, down to the last detail. You’ve trained your executives, your business partners, the rank and file. But what about your staff – are they ready for a crisis? This session will cover the many aspects of keeping your BCM staff in tip-top shape such as: hiring, training and development, and managing staff during a crisis.

B2: Breakout Session
Be a Top Talent
Cheyene Marling
Executive Vice President, People Solutions & Program Analytics
Firestorm
A long list of certification acronyms after your last name and years of business continuity/ resiliency expertise does not translate into being a Top Talent. A Top Talent professional possesses the sought after soft skills and cognitive ability that can elevate the program, the team and the organization. The hard skills required to be successful in a role may vary on the level and between different organizations, but the soft skills are universal and do impact your career trajectory. Let’s discuss soft skills to better position your career growth at any stage.

9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
B3: Breakout Session
Future Vision of Resilience: Global Trends and Predictions
Kelsey Rose, Director of Global Operations
DRII
Each year, the DRI Future Vision Committee assembles a report on the current issues facing resilience professionals. This session will explore what exactly it means to be a resilience professional today and how we can adapt to manage increasingly visible and complex incidents. By contrasting the findings of the Future Vision Committee with real-life incidents, Kelsey Rose will provide guidance in creating an effective resilience strategy in line with the latest industry developments around the world.

B4: Breakout Session
Increasing Organizational Resilience by Establishing Command & Control
Tracey Rice, Vice President of Customer Engagement
Fusion Risk Management
This session presents key strategies and tactics to increase the resiliency of your organization and help your program succeed and thrive into the future. Subtle but significant adjustments can drastically improve your success. Are you in command of your program? Are you in control of what impacts resiliency? Is the core of your agenda strong and stable? Understand what leading organizations do differently with ideas that make sense from the most basic to the most complex enterprise programs.

11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
K1: Keynote Session
The State of New York City Preparedness
Joseph Esposito, Commissioner
New York Office of Emergency Management
Joseph J. Esposito was appointed Commissioner of the New York City Emergency Management Department in 2014. He is responsible for oversight of the City’s efforts to plan and prepare for emergencies, educate the public about preparedness, coordinate emergency response and recovery, and disseminate emergency information. With more than 40 years in public service, Esposito has dedicated his career to public safety and preparedness.

B5: Breakout Session
How to Define an Enterprise-Wide Recovery Sequence for Your Business
Robert Fucito, Vice President, Enterprise Business & Technology Resiliency
Fannie Mae
Learn how to align your business and technology recovery strategies to deliver a viable recovery sequence for your firm. In this session, Robert Fucito will demonstrate how you can dissect your organization and construct a succinct recovery plan for your business and technology under a worst case scenario.

B6: Breakout Session
Preparing to Prepare – Documenting Your Exercise
Monica Goldstein, CEO
Recovery Planner
Exercising your plans is an integral part of an organization’s resiliency strategy. You may know why you need to exercise your plans but knowing how to plan and prepare all the documents for a Business Continuity exercise is fundamental to a successful exercise. Gartner says that the prep work for an exercise is approximately 60% of an Exercise – so what are you prepping? This session will review designing exercise documentation for use pre, post, and during a Table-top exercise. Attendees will be provided with a handout that gives guidance on exercise documentation and the opportunity to apply the guidance to their own exercise.

2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
B7: Breakout Session
The “Non-Standard BIA”
Kathleen Lucey, President
Montague Risk Management/NY Metro Chapter ACP
Faced with a client that had the results of a BIA that took two years to complete, cost $400,000, did not provide the necessary information to develop recovery plans, and where much of this information was outdated, the presenter developed a combined BIA/Risk Assessment. This allowed the rapid collection of the information necessary to develop recovery plans. It was much easier (and much faster) to get to the necessary decisions with this approach. It also provided the information necessary to complete both business unit and technology recovery plans. This approach has been used multiple times now; it is both effective and efficient. This presentation will describe how this methodology works and why it is effective.

B8: Breakout Session
Leveraging Your BCM Program in Cyber Security Incident Response
Ramesh Warrier, Director
eBRP
The immediate reaction to a cyber-security incident is the FUD factor (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt); more like ‘chickens running around with their head cut off’. In the event of a data breach the RTO goes ‘out of the window’ and response is based on RTO=0. An agile response requires tested and documented Incident Response Plans – including Crisis Management, Business Continuity, and IT Disaster Recovery Plans. Automating the workflow facilitates seamless collaboration and the ability to Monitor, Measure & Manage the activities that are critical to effective Incident Response. In this presentation, learn about the various program components that will help in building an effective Incident Response.

3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
B9: Breakout Session
BC/DR Program as a Competitive Advantage
Bob Klemme, Business Continuity Program Manager
Verizon Wireless
Your organization likely has many customers who depend on your products and services. In some cases delivering your product just-in-time will make a customer’s special day. In other cases your services make the different between life and death. This session will discuss ways to take your BC/DR program out of the back office, and into the minds of your executives and customers.

B10: Breakout Session
Sheltered Harbor – Financial Services Resilience
Matt DeFrain, Cyber/Business Resilience
KPMG LLP
For financial institutions, a cyber-attack that exposes their customers personal identifiable information is bad enough. But even worse is the ‘doomsday’ scenario where the hacker destroys or lock up that data, making it impossible to retrieve. To guard against that kind of panic, the financial services industry has created Sheltered Harbor, a voluntary initiative that provides financial institutions and their customers with an extra layer of protection. This session will explore the scope of the Sheltered Harbor initiative, industry adoption and key components of the solution.
