Continuity Insights Management Conference

Continuity Insights has announced that internationally known author, technologist, and entrepreneur Pete O’Dell, will be the opening keynote for the 2019 Continuity Insights Management Conference, scheduled for April 15-17, in New Orleans. The conference will take place at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel.

O’Dell is the author of Cyber 24-7: Risks, Leadership and Sharing and Silver Bullets: How Interoperable Data Will Revolutionize Information Sharing. His keynote address, “Emerging Technology Impact: The “Need-to-Knows” for Business Continuity Professionals,” will touch on 5G, IOT, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain sensors, drones, robots, and more – technologies that are no longer emerging, but are embraced by the business, and as a result, rapidly crossing our business continuity threshold.

Operational use demands a continuity plan as they are deployed, and many can enhance response greatly. With Information Technology (IT) now at the forefront of Operational Technology (OT), recovery risk is rising to even higher levels.

Drawing upon a wealth of first-hand knowledge and experience, O’Dell will identify and discuss the various short and long-term implications, outline what the priorities should be for business continuity professionals, pinpoint which technologies matter, and debate when and how will it impact your BCM program.

As a technology consultant, board member, and entrepreneur, O’Dell’s extensive career covers software, manufacturing, distribution, and professional services. He was the President of Autodesk Retail Products, Chief Information Officer of MicroWarehouse, and Chief Operating Officer for several successful startups. He is a founder and director of Swan Island Networks, a cloud based situational awareness platform for physical and cyber information intelligence. He has had extensive interaction with the U.S. government in the areas of homeland security, critical infrastructure, information sharing, real-time situational awareness, and law enforcement.

The preliminary schedule for the 2019 Continuity Insights Management Conference, kicks off on Sunday, April 14 with a selection of pre-conference workshops and certification classes, providing in-depth learning related to key business continuity and resilience topics. The pre-conference workshops will be followed by the opening night reception hosted by the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and will include the presentation of the 2019 BCI Americas Awards.

The expanded 2019 conference program will include 72 individual sessions devoted to Case Studies, Trending Topics, Program Development & Advancement, Measurement, Metrics, and Maturity, Emerging Technology, and Professional Development, as well as the highly-anticipated “Ask the Experts” panels. Continuing education credits and certifications are available to all conference attendees.

The main conference program concludes on Wednesday, April 17. Post-conference certification and workshops will begin immediately after the conference concludes on Wednesday afternoon and continue Thursday through Saturday, April 18-20.

The full conference agenda is now available to review here. Registration is also open here.
