Continuity Cares to Support Sleep in Heavenly Peace in 2019

As a result of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005, Continuity Insights founded an ongoing initiative called Continuity Cares. It started with debris clean-up and drywalling to working at a Veterans homeless shelter in New Orleans, but the activity has followed us to every city the Continuity Insights Management Conference has visited since.

Other projects have included a community garden in Atlanta, a food bank in San Diego, a home for abandoned children in Phoenix, the Denver Rescue Mission, and last year’s Back-to-School Night, where volunteers filled schools book bags with much-needed school supplies for students in the Miami-Dade County School system.

On Saturday April 13, 2019, our volunteers, in partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace Fusion Risk Management, and the New Orleans Fire Department, will be building bunk beds for deserving families. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a non-profit organization whose mission is, “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”

Luke Mickelson, the founder of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, learned in 2012 that there were local children in his town who slept on the floor. Surprised to discover how widespread this need was in his close-knit community, Mickelson founded the organization which builds and delivers beds to children in need. Today, Sleep in Heavenly Peace has grown to 118 chapters in 39 states. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a Top 10 finalist in the 2018 CNN Heroes program
