Sleep in Heavenly Peace, the non-profit organization dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need, is gearing up for one of the greatest achievements in its history. With its Bunks Across America initiative scheduled for June 15, 2019, Sleep in Heavenly Peace is going to attempt to build 2,500 bunk beds (or 5,000 beds) while breaking a Guinness Book World Record and doing good simultaneously.
“Bunks Across America is a day for communities nationwide to get together to build beds for children who don’t have beds to sleep in, said Luke Mickelson, founder of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “This day should stand as a revelation to those who don’t know there is a problem and a beacon of hope to those who don’t know there is a solution. We want as many people as possible to get involved to be a part of the solution.”
Continuity Insights recently partnered with the New Orleans Fire Department and Fusion Risk Management during its 13th Annual Continuity Cares community volunteer initiative to build bunks for those in need to assist Sleep in Heavenly Peace in executing its mission, “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”
There are three ways volunteers can help Sleep in Heavenly Peace achieve its goal: volunteer on build day, make a donation, or sponsor a build near you.
Volunteer to Join a Build Near You
If you would like to help a Chapter build on June 15th, it’s easy!
We take a pile of wood and with drills, sanders, saws and paint brushes, bunk beds are completed. Our simple design is easy to follow and takes no woodworking experience to learn. Experienced volunteers will show and teach other volunteers (such as yourself) the different stages of the construction process.
Make a Donation to Help with a Build
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is volunteer-driven and donation-driven. Over 90% of donations we receive go towards:
- Purchasing materials for beds
- Bed assembly and delivery
- Building and improving our organization
The donations we get from individuals, service groups or corporations determine how many beds we can produce and deliver. You can find more info on donating here.
Sponsor a Build
