Ready.gov, the official website of the Department of Homeland Security, recognizes September of each year as National Preparednesss month to promote family and community disaster and emergency planning now and throughout the year. The 2019 theme is “Prepared, Not Scared.”
Each week of the month will feature a new theme focusing on a different area of disaster preparedness to help households, especially those with children, to be more prepared, resilient, and confident. They include September 1-7: Save Early for Disaster Costs; September 8-14: Make a Plan to Prepare for Disasters; September 15-21: Teach Youth to Prepare for Disasters; and September 22-30: Get Involved in Your Community’s Preparedness.
