Longer-Range Storm Forecasting With Major NOAA Upgrades

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced major upgrades to the Global Forecast System (GFS) weather model that will allow for more accurate forecasting and within a time frame of up to 16 days.

The upgrades will improve hurricane forecasting and modeling for snowfall location, as well as lead to better heavy rainfall forecasts and an overall improved model performance.
