SOC (Service Organizational Control) 2 compliance implies that third party auditors have verified that BC in the Cloud is following best practices with respect to the design and operating effectiveness of its controls related to security, availability, and processing integrity.
Fundamentally, SOC 2 is an audit of a company’s technical capabilities, and its ability to ensure that data is secure, available, and held in confidence. The controls for ensuring these outcomes must be documented and tested by an independent third party. To receive certification, the company needs to demonstrate that it has effective controls and procedures in place to meet strict audit standards.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) created the SOC 2 compliance program as a means of improving the reporting by service organizations. While there are three types of SOC compliance, SOC 2 is designed for Cloud and SaaS organizations. Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. conducted the audit for the time period November 1, 2020 – April 30, 2021.
