Intense wildfires continue to impact the LA community. Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley warned that strong winds could return, and as of Jan. 23, two new fires have broken out in LA county. The Sepulveda fire has stopped moving, but according to reports, the Hughes fire is fast-moving and has resulted in 31,000 evacuation orders.
Already, the wildfires of 2025 in LA county have been some of the costliest the area has ever faced. There have been thousands of buildings damaged or destroyed because of the Eaton and Palisades fires. Entire towns have burned down. In a press conference, officials shared that LA residents in impacted areas can view maps showing damage assessments, which are being updated daily.

In times of crisis, communities rally around each other and prove how resilient they are. Companies and organizations have offered support in the form of discounts or free services to help those evacuating and first responders. According to LA Mayor Karen Bass, countries South Korea and Japan have also donated funds to help support wildfire recovery.
