Continuity Insights Management Conference

Strategies for the ultimate resilient organization, giving back to the community through Continuity Cares and Back-to-School Night, and “Are You Smarter Than a Contingency Planner” were all on display this week at the 2018 Continuity Insights Management Conference.

Continuity Insights concluded its 16th annual conference at the Hilton Miami Downtown, Miami Florida, combining more than 70 sessions focusing on strategies for the ultimate resilient organization with the spirit of volunteerism and some relaxing fun and games.

The conference attracted more than 475 attendees, industry experts, thought leaders, and vendor representatives. Conferees exchanged insights and ideas on critical issues affecting both veteran business continuity practitioners and professionals coming up through the ranks.

Session tracks dedicated to case studies, emerging issues, professional development, program development & advancement, measurement/metrics/maturity, trending topics, and “ask the experts” panel discussions provided attendees with lessons learned and key takeaways from experienced business continuity professionals responsible for the integrity, availability, resilience, and security of their organizations.

The event also incorporated Continuity Insights’ annual “Continuity Cares” initiative – Back-to-School Night, where attendees, speakers, and suppliers came together on Tuesday evening, April 24 to give back to the community and touch the lives of those in need. For this year’s event, volunteers filled schools bookbags with much-needed school supplies for students in the Miami-Dade County School system.

The Back-to-School Night volunteers filled the bookbags with calculators, notebooks, presentation folders, pens, pencils, highlighters, rulers, hand sanitizer, notepads, and a dozen other school supplies.

Joining in on this collaborative effort were corporate sponsors Fusion Risk Management, Ripcord Solutions, Strategic BCP, Continuity Logic, Fairchild Resiliency Systems, and BC in the Cloud, who provided the school supply bookbags. Also contributing to the school supplies were Everbridge, OnSolve, The Business Continuity Institute, and The Association of Continuity Professionals (ACP).

As the Back-to-School Night activities continued, those in attendance also took a much-deserved break from the intense learning exchange to have some fun and unwind during “Are You Smarter Than a Contingency Planner,” a spirited game show where brave souls showed off their trivia chops answering a combination of business continuity and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader-themed questions.

The conference kicked-off with the Business Continuity Institute’s “Get Certified!” Welcome Reception where conferees eased into the three days of information exchange in a relaxed atmosphere to begin sharing BC tips, insights, and ideas.

Attendees also spent time in the exhibit hall during the week, meeting with technology and service providers, and exploring the latest solutions for business continuity planning and program development, disaster recovery, and enterprise risk mangagement.

The 2019 Continuity Insights Management Conference (#CIMCNewOrleans2019) is scheduled for April 15-17 at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans Hotel, New Orleans, LA. Visit www.continuityinsights.com/events for news and updates.
